About the Journal

Hi! My name is Nova Anne Baclayo.

Elle Iustitia Journale(my official eJournal) records my law school’s journey through Ignatian Leadership—where reflection, discernment, and ethical action shape the practice of justice.

My Formation

My Purpose

My professional roots run deep in the tech industry, specifically in software development and product engineering. For years, I navigated the fast-paced world of digital innovation, eventually serving as one of the top executives in the company where I oversaw large-scale, complex initiatives like the ICEI project in Indonesia. Today, I continue to work with data and systems at Sustainable Focus, specializing in HVAC automation solutions for retail empires across Australia.

Yet, amidst the code, project management, and rapid problem-solving, I felt a persistent call to return to the classroom. I am currently a law student at the Ateneo de Davao University College of Law. My formation is a unique hybrid: I am learning to bridge the analytical, efficiency-driven mindset of an IT professional with the rigorous, deeply human-centered discipline of the law.

Why do I do what I do?

At the core of everything I do is a commitment to servant philanthropy and meaningful education. I believe in using the tools of technology and the power of legal knowledge to empower others and create positive, structural change. My purpose is to synthesize the efficiency of the tech world with the empathy and justice required in the legal profession. Whether I am prototyping a legal social application like eLLe Iustitia to support fellow students and practitioners, or exploring creative digital storytelling through Anemotion and BooksAnne, my goal is to build solutions that matter.

Ultimately, I am driven to become a lawyer who leads with depth, advocates with integrity, and always remembers the human context behind every legal challenge.
